Lindum U9 Warriors v Nettleham U9 Arrows

The last game of the season brought with it the toughest challenge against league topping Nettleham U9 Arrows. However, with home advantage and coming off the back of a great performance at Scothern spirits were high.

After winning the toss Rohan decided to chase and try to restrict the opposition’s high octane batting style and score building. Lindum Warriors to their credit put in another good shift in the field remaining busy and focused to the last deliver. While taking their second highest wicket tally of 4 and giving away the fewest extras, helped to prevent Nettleham passing 300 for the first this season. So at the half way point Lindum were still in it ‘just’.

With a huge target of 299 to chase the key word had to be positivity, looking to score where ever possible and try to get ahead of the run rate of just over a run a ball; a tall order.

Nettleham taking nothing for granted started as they meant to carry on, taking a wicket in the first over and continuing to take wickets throughout the innings, hampering the run chase frustratingly for the home side. Undeterred the Lindum batsmen stuck to their task playing positively throughout, while appreciating and acknowledging the accuracy of the opposition’s bowling and fielding. Even with the loss of 11 wickets Lindum managed to post a positive score of 215, well done boys.
