Scothern v Lindum U9 Warriors

They say a week is a long time in politics and the same could be said for sport. After, the U9 Warriors reversed their fortunes by notching up their third win of the season, at Scothern, after a disappointing result against them the week before. The win came courtesy of a complete performance by the team, led by some enthusiastic captaincy.

Having won the toss Rohan decided to field and immediately got down to the business of arranging his players which included our ninth man and substitute fielder. The team quickly repaid Rohan’s confidence with a focused and busy performance in field, clearly producing the best fielding by the Warriors all season. A disciplined bowling performance from the whole team was backed up with numerous athletic boundary saving stops coupled with some smart throwing into the stumps, well and truly restricting the free scoring Scothern from the week before to a chasable 259 for 1.

The focus and confidence continued after the break with each batting pair always looking to score runs and where ever possible boundaries. Some assured calling was also evident throughout the innings, although a little cautious at times (better to be safe than sorry). With every batsman troubling the scorers, runs came freely and in particular both Rohan and William W hit sixes with William W top scoring with 14 runs, the Warriors finished on 294 for 1.

All in all a very satisfying win from an excellent all-round team performance.
