Academy Match Report

Report by James Kempton...

Last time I played at Barkston I got booked, was involved in a sixteen man altercation and my main job was to win the ball and give it to a sixteen year old Johnny Oster! Anyway moving on to cricket related matters and the school report is in from yesterday's game...

Nabs - graceful 39 before a dubious LBW decision almost saw the placid Dr reach for his scalpel for an unscheduled Sunday operation! Didn't bowl as the umpire had run out of space on his sheet.......

Harry - took reflex catch of the season in a very tidy keeping performance and bludgeoned a powerful four in another solid display.

Charlie - bowls with increased pace and control every week. The Lindum's mini Brett Lee but with far more batting nouse.

Sam Sheriff - fielded well and looked comfortable at the crease before being roughed up with the old short ball, short ball whack to the arm and then full ball roughed up.

Tom Boiling - fielded admirably and batted steadily before a leading edge saw his downfall. His time will come. Skipper should have bowled him!

Anton McCready - bowled beautifully against two behemoths who dealt only in fours. Won both the 'Daniel Vettori' lookalike and hot dog eating contest at tea!

James Kempton - performed like Shoaib Akhtar and Brian Lara. Sadly it was Akhtar's batting and Lara's bowling! Believed his own hype, get down the nets son.

Risabh - bowled beautifully until he met a similar fate to that of Anton against two batsman hungry for runs. Registered an entry for catch of the season with a diving full length grab. Incredibly both a drop and concussion were avoided as he landed head first on the rock hard outfield.

Eshan - got a wicket first ball, bowled a beautiful spell and asked questions all day. Questions like why did it take the captain twenty odd overs to bring me on?

Sam - another impressive performance from the under 13 line and length wizard. Batted like he was never in trouble and flung himself around at fine leg/third man and often in between.

Mr A - Two warnings for running down the pitch, a great wicket, 'long barrier gate' and some lusty swipes. It's never boring when Mr A is in the game!

A special mention must go to our twelfth man, a dog who kept going into the field next to the ground to retrieve our frequently 'lost' balls.
