Sunday 1st XI Match Report

The Sunday 1st XI cruised to victory at Cherry Willingham on Sunday to return to the top of the league. Skipper Elliott won the toss and rose a few eyebrows in his decision to bowl first in the Sahara Dessert. However, it paid dividends as Lindum restricted the hosts to 122-5 from their 40 overs. Elliott and Tom opened up and both bowled ridiculously tightly to limit Cherry in the early stages, and Tom even sacrificed his sternum to prevent Cherry scoring runs - still goes down as a drop though. Tom did get his rewards with the ball, though, with two wickets at the end of his spell making up for the dent in his ribcage - catches were taken by himself and Rolfsy. Tom was replaced by Rob Cook, making his first Sunday appearance of the season and carrying on where the openers had left off - dot after dot after dot. The pressure told as the batsman danced past one and Max was there to destroy the stumps to leave Cherry three down. Ted also bowled well during his spell and got himself a wicket thanks to a catch by Wrighty at mid-off, which is the same position Ollie caught the fifth wicket in off the bowling of Cooky. 122-5 and a fabulously refreshing tea was taken.

Lindum made relatively light work of the chase, Pricey and Ozzy opened up and got Lindum off to a flyer before the Worcester Sauce crisp worshipping Oz snicked off for I-don't-know-how-may-because-the-scorecard-isn't-online-yet. He scored a few. Pricey's delicious 40 was next to come to an end after slicing one to point who pulled off a smart one-handed catch. Although that is two 50s bottled in one weekend by the Kiwi. Just saying. Rolfs and Wrighty took us to within 20ish before the former looped one to the 'keeper, leaving Will T to join Wrighty in the middle who finished the innings with aplomb, finishing on 40 odd not out to hand Lindum the seven wicket victory.
