The Sunday 1st XI recorded back to back victories as they beat Sleaford at the LCG on Sunday. Elliott thankfully won the toss and wasted no time in choosing to have a bat, which proved fruitful as Lindum posted 229-8 in their 40 overs. An opening partnership of 97 stood Lindum in good stead as PMB and Pricey batted nicely before the latter fell for 48, followed by Ollie for 10. P and Rolfsy added 34 before P was caught for a top-scoring 61. Will's good form hit a blip as he was caught for one, but it's okay because Sunday cricket doesn't count. Max was then bamboozled by the ball of the century (his words, no-one else's) as he was bowled for five, before Elliott and Wells fell in quick succession for 12 and two respectively. Wellsy's dismissal was allegedly relatively shambolic - I didn't see it unfortunately, but it sounds probable. Rolfsy's innings was next to come to an end for a well made 44, as he slapped a full toss which would've gone for six byes straight to mid-on. Sumo didn't have the energy to lift his arm for the no-ball. This left Jacob and Dewy with the opportunity to score some late runs, as they finished on eight not outand 13 not out respectively to leave Lindum content on 229-8.
Despite a quick start, Sleaford never really looked in the running as they were bowled out for 153 in the 32nd over. Dewy got the ball rolling, and the stumps, by clean bowling the opener, whose partner went on the attack right from ball one - his enormous six off Jordan came down with findings from the surface of Mars. However, he was soon sent on his way for 36 by a masterful slower ball from Dewy, and with him went any realistic chance of a Sleaford win, especially after the number four was caught behind very next ball. Wicket number four also fell with the score on 44 as Elliott's very first ball was sent high into the sky towards cover off a thick leading edge, and it was Ollie who took the catch running back after avoiding a nearby Rolfsy. Dewy clean bowled his third victim to leave Sleaford 49-5, which became 66-6 when Elliott took the simple catch at mid-on off Rolfsy. Wells then got in on the action with a dismissal equally as bad as his own; one of the few deliveries he managed to land on the strip was slapped into the ground nearby by the batsman, before bouncing up, ricocheting off the batsman's back and bobbling onto the stumps in slow motion. That's what you get for taking your helmet off when Harry Wheels Wells comes on to bowl. Pricey then clean bowled the number nine, before Wellsy picked up the big wicket of the number six who top scored with 53, with PMB taking the catch at square leg . Pricey wrapped things up as the last man chopped a drive onto his own stumps to leave Sleaford 153 all out and Lindum with all 20 points.
