1st XI Match Report

An under-par total cost the 1st XI in their defeat at home to Boston on Saturday. Skipper Charlie won the toss and elected to bat on a glorious day at the LCG, but the innings got off to a bad start when PMB was given LBW to the third ball of the game. Rolfsy was promoted up the order to number three and put on 42 with Aidan before the Aussie was caught behind for 26. Charlie was next to go when he was run out for nine shortly after, and Lindum were struggling when Aidan was caught for 25 with the score on 86-4. Spokesy boii, on a new lease of life since his shirtless initiation last week, was next out for six, followed by Bish for 11 (also his height in inches). Will Taylor's customary 50* was not to be this week as he was ran out for 38, the score on 151-7, before Joe (26), Elliott (0) and Zac (0) all fell with the score on 168 as Jake looked on from the other end, stranded on six not out. 168 all out the final score.

Unsurprisingly, despite a decent bowling and fielding performance, it turned out to be a below par total, as Boston reached their target in the 47th over for the loss of just three wickets. Jake made the first breakthrough after an opening partnership of 53, while the other two scalps were taken fairly late on in the innings by in-form-with-the-ball Elliott. Not a lot else to say really. At least it wasn't away at Boston.
