The 1st XI suffered a heavy defeat when they visited Sleaford on Saturday. The hosts won the toss and bowled in favourable bowling conditions, which was reflected in the score as Lindum posted just 137-9 from their 50 overs. Will Taylor was caught behind first ball from one which popped off the surface, and unfortunately that's the only dismissal I know any details about. First team debutant David Spokesy boiiiii top scored at number six with a well constructed 30, while Will W (10), Charlie (14), the returning Alex Hornsby (20), and Euan Pickering (10) all kind of chipped in. Jonny Miller (15*) and another debutant, 14-year-old Zac Shelbourne, dug in at the end of the innings to prevent Lindum being bowled out.
Will Wright and JimKim opened up with the new ball, and Will made an early breakthrough as his new AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY IN mantra bamboozled the batsman, who was caught behind by Euan for three. However, despite a few chances, which mainly led to Will attempting to abuse the Sleaford batsman, the hosts saw the win home in the 25th over for the loss of just one wicket. One point in the bag.
Special mention to Zac who claimed figures of 0-11 from his three overs on his 1st XI debut, including a maiden.
