1st XI Match Report

The 1st XI put in an almost carbon copy performance of the win over Alford earlier in the season as they once again sealed a tense one wicket victory. The hosts, Olford (how many times James?), batted first and were not the first team to fall victim to Lindum's spin twins, Jonny and Jake, who took the bulk of the wickets in their innings of 123 all out. Shane Barr returned to the side after Faf decided he wasn't needed at Old Trafford, and duly took the first wicket with the catch being taken by the returning GailPick at slip. Will W followed up last week's fifer with just a single wicket this week - very disappointing. JimKim responded to being dropped from opening duties by also taking just the one wicket. Go back to Portugal. Once these had done all they could it was over to Jake and Jonny to rip through the rest of the order, taking three and four wickets respectively as Alford were dismissed in the 44th over.

The chase was a piece of cake, with both openers scoring unbeaten half centuries with 30 overs to spare.

If only.

In traditional Lindum style, we collapsed from 101-3 in the 37th, breezing home to victory, dark fruits in sight, to 104-8 in the 42nd. The bulk of the runs had been scored by Will T, who relished his promotion to opening with 43 runs, and JimKim, who made 36. However, after these two went and numbers six, seven and eight fell for a combined amount of runs as there are hairs on DT's head (0), Lindum were in a mess. The hero of the reverse fixture and Mr BetFred himself, James Kempton, made a valuable six before he was out, leaving Jonny and textbook number 11 Shane to see Lindum over the line. Thankfully, they did just that as they brought home the buttery biscuit base in the 53rd over. 20 points, never in doubt.
