Will Wright turned in a match-winning performance as the 1st XI won away at Spalding. Lindum batted first on a difficult, slow, turning wicket and made a respectable 145-8 from the 50 overs. Ozzy was first to go as he was bowled for four by everyone's second favourite Roy; Tilley (second to Cropper). Aidan continued his terrific run of form as he was out caught second ball for 0, allowing skipper Charlie to form a partnership with Will. Charlie went for 33, before Will T went for a magnificent seven. Tom, now a new man after his life changing experience at Cadbury World last weekend, made eight, Jonny three, and Elliott was run out for 0. Will fell at some point for a superbly constructed 56, while Bish and Wellsy finished on 14* and 8* respectively. Rumour has it the latter put his lovely piece of 4-be-2-be to work with a divine straight six in the final over.
In a bizarre chase in which extras scored over twice the amount of the top scoring batsman, Spalding were bowled out for 99 in the 32nd over. The top scorer made 23 while extras racked up a whopping 47 - well batted! Will completed the perfect all-round performance by taking a fifer, including a hat-trick for good measure, to add to his earlier 50. Joe marked his first team return with a wicket, while Jonny and Wellsy took two each to hand Lindum the victory.
