1st XI Match Report

The 1st XI returned to winning ways on Saturday with another tight victory over Louth at the LCG. The hosts batted first on a challenging deck and posted a competitive 151-9 from the 50 overs. Skipper Charlie top scored with an excellent 52, JimKim made use of his promotion up the order by scoring a useful 28, Tom made 18 while Elliott chipped in with an unbeaten 19 to guide Lindum to a crucial second batting point. No one else made double figures.

I wasn't there but I'm sure President's Tea would've been drool-worthy, thanks to all who contributed.

In typical Lindum fashion the chase was relatively close, with Louth being bowled out for 136 in the 47th over, despite looking favourites to go on and win the game at one stage. The visitors looked to be struggling on 64-5, with early wickets going to Jonny (2), JimKim (2) and Jake. However, they recovered to a position requiring just 32 from nine overs with three wickets in hand, before golden arm Harry Wells struck with an LBW, before a Jonny run out and JimKim wicket, caught by Tom, sealed the 15 run victory. Tom apparently had quite the day in the field, taking four smart catches, but still dropped my hat-trick ball catch in the U'15 National Cup game against Notts & Arnold five years ago. Just saying. 17 points in the bag and back to winning ways!
