The 1st XI couldn't quite a muster a last gasp win this time around as they were closely beaten at home to Sleaford. The visitors won the toss and, like every team in the country, decided to bat first on a scorcher of a day. They posted a total of 176 all out in the 47th over on a spinning deck, emphasised by the ear-pricking figures of 5-30 from 12 overs taken by Jonny Millerrrrr the leg spinnerrrrrr. Tom Lindsay got in on the action, taking three wickets, while there was one apiece for Joe and Jake.
The chase got off to an iffy start as Aidan fell early for three, before a partnership of sorts between Bish and Charlie. The latter fell for 27 while James Kimber (18), Will Taylor (7) and GailPick (18) chipped away at the total. Bish fell for a patient 53, seven short of his height in inches. Tom added 18 but the game slipped away as the tail fell away, adding just four more runs as Lindum were bowled out for 159, with specialist finisher Kempo stranded at the non-striker's end. A 17-run defeat, with arch-rivals Bracebridge Heath up next.
