The 1st XI got back to winning ways on Saturday with a win off the final ball against Boston at the LCG. Lindum batted first and after a slow start, recovered well to post 176-8 after being 68-6. Aidan made a patient 34 at the top of the order, James and Tom both made swift 32's down the order and Jake contributed an unbeaten 40 off 28 balls to post a competitive total.
The defence got off to the perfect start as JimKim removed Boston's opener LBW with the first ball of the innings. The other opener made 34 and the number three top scored with 69 in an otherwise poor scorecard. However, the game still went down the wire with Boston requiring seven from the final over with two wickets in hand, to be bowled by Tom. First ball, wicket, stumped by Bish - a fine effort considering his reach is only 14 inches. It came to the visitors needing three off the final ball, and in typical Champagne Lindum style, Tom clean bowled the number 11 to seal a two run win, probably sparking wild scenes of celebration I'd imagine. Tom finished with figures of 4-27, while Jonny and James claimed two wickets each and Will T and Bish each had a run out. What a win!
