1st XI Match Report

The 1st XI moved up to second in the ECB Prem after a nail-biting win over the best-named team in the division, Alford, at the LCG on Saturday. Lindum bowled first on a very green deck, and it paid dividends as the visitors were bowled out for just 93 in the 41st over. Despite not taking any wickets, both the openers Joe and initiation-bound James bowled tightly, both conceding just 12 runs each from their seven overs. Tom Lindsay then returned to the bowling action with aplomb, taking (probably) career best figures of 6-23 from his 13 overs. Han Solo would be proud. Jake Benson took 3-45 from his 14 overs while the other wicket was a JimKim run out. A nice easy chase surely.

Turns out it was a very tense chase, as Lindum's top order fell away cheaply with only Bish (18) and Charlie (14) making contributions. Jake Benson came in at number eight and stayed at the crease, while 1st team debutant Wellsy and Joe fell quickly to leave Lindum 50-something for nine, with man in form Kempo coming in at 11 to bring home the buttery biscuit base. And he and Benno did just that, with the latter finishing on 30 not out to steer Lindum towards another 20 points. Kempo finished on nine not out. Promotion required?? It's seriously advisable to anyone who hasn't done so to watch the Lindum Cricket Club Facebook live of Kempo hitting the winning runs.. AHHH FANTASTIC

Initiations report:
In front of a baying crowd, initations took place for anyone who made their 1st XI debut in the last two seasons. In a course consisting of five anything-but-noiice drinks, a slalom course, a stump spin and a catch-it ramp, there were some scenes which weren't for the light hearted. Ted got his out of the way early doors although there are suggestions that he did have a slightly easier course. Lils set the pace firtst up, proving Jeremy Corbyn wrong in that £9,000 can be well spent at University #glug.
GailPick went next in front of a less-than-impressed Pickering senior and rumour has it that he is still out there initiating now #void
Wellsy went next and it's a very good job Quinn wasn't there to see his lovely outfield being stained by Wellsy's stomach contents #chunks
Ollie was next and didn't look too dissimilar to Klitschko in the 11th a couple of weeks back #KO
Dan followed and despite not being too pleased about the prospect of being initiated, didn't do too bad despite a finger-down-throat situation half way round #nibble
The best was saved til last as James Kimber absolutely stormed his way around the course, knocking back drinks and spinning around stumps like a man possessed to complete the course in record time in his new favourite T-shirt #WengerOut
