Defeat at Grantham

A makeshift 1st XI endured a difficult start to the season away at Grantham on Saturday. From last season's side, Matt Rutherford, Geoff Middleton and Dwight Thomas have all left the club, while skipper Charlie Tomlinson, Jonny Millerrrr the leg spinnerrrrrr, Will Taylor and Richard Bishop were all unavailable and Luke Robinson is taking a break from cricket after a season down under. So it's fair to say we were struggling. Nonetheless the 2nd teamers who weren't at Sincil Bank stepped up and the side was captained by Jake Benson, who won the toss and elected to bowl. Grantham made a sizeable 267-8, which included a generous 42 extras.

With an inexperienced batting line-up at this level, Lindum only managed 140 in reply. Will top scored with 81, while Euan and Joe, who both scored 15, were the only other meaningful contributors.
