Nettleham Barracudas v Lindum Gladiators

Lindum Gladiators reshuffled the pack bringing in Poppy, Noah and Rohan for the visit to Nettleham, but you wouldn’t have noticed as the Gladiators continued where they left off in this rich vein of form. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Archie, William and Poppy were in the wickets straight away, with a wicket maiden each, backed up by a maiden over from Harry, pegging Nettleham back from the off. A steady flow of wickets continued to fall, off an extremely disciplined bowling and fielding performance, with Noah and Hector joining the wicket takers. An outstanding performance in the field by Lindum that was clearly reflected in Nettleham’s first innings total of 208 for 6.

Even though the pressure was off Lindum with such a small total to get, credit must be given to all the players who batted with maturity and skill passing the total in the first over. The running between the wickets and positive calling saw every opportunity for a run being taken. At the same time capitalising on the deliveries that sat up to be hit, put away consistently with 17 fours and 1 six coming off the bat. Every Gladiator added runs to the total with Archie, William, Hector, Jack, Rohan and Noah all getting into double figures. Resulting in Lindum finishing on 333 for 4.

With the second win of the season in the bag and one of the best all round performances to boot, it was left up to the coaches to carry out the most difficult job of the day, the awarding of the man of match. After a bit of discussion however, the award went to Archie for the tremendous six he hit in the third over.
