The second game of Major Holt Cup took place on Sunday as Lindum visited Sleaford. The hosts batted first and after a quick start from their opener and a barrage of fairly simple dropped catches, it looked like it was going to be a looooong old day. However, Lindum regained control and restricted Sleaford to a par-ish score of 176. Wickets went to Elliott, Ted (2), Tom (2), James (2) and Wellsy (2). Meanwhile, best attempted mess-up of a catch went to Adam, total avoidance of a catch went to Dan and drop of the day went to Wellsy. A good day in the field all round.
In typical Lindum style, we made hard work of the chase as victory was eventually sealed with a ball to spare. Unfortunately the opening stand of the last visit wasn't to be repeated as Ollie fell first for eight before Aidan went for 36. Adam and JimKim patiently guided Lindum towards the total, making 47 and 28 respectively. However, things got tight in the closing overs and wickets began to fall; Euan for 11, Dan for a third consecutive duck (MIF), Wellsy for two and Tom for one. This left Elliott and the returning Nick Kimber to see Lindum home, and they duly obliged as Nick smacked a handful of boundaries and forced a crucial overthrow while Elliott punched one down the ground off the penultimate ball to seal the win.
