NO YOU GO

The Sunday 1st XI maintained their 100% record with a mini-Cup win over Woodhall Spa at the LCG. The hosts batted first and posted 186-9. Will W and Ollie and opened up, with Ollie first to go, putting everyone out their misery after the scratchiest innings in mini-Cup history. Will made 35 and RobNob scored 29, while number four and Cheshire pro Olly Smith chewed like Alex Ferguson and Sam Allardyce put together to make 22. Will Taylor top scored with an unbeaten 54, while Dan made an excellent 0. Euan made seven, Wellsy and JimKim one each, Elliot got five and Ted got three not out. Details are scarce as quite frankly the England vs South Africa T20 on the TV inside was more interesting.

Woodhall never really threatened to chase the total as they were bowled out for 123 in the 37th over. James and Elliot removed an opener each with catches taken by Ollie and a class one from Will W, before the highlight of the match occurred in a bizarre run out situation. In summary, the batsman (probably incorrectly) given out refused to leave the pitch and instead, in no uncertain terms, told his youthful batting partner to leave the field so his own, more important innings could continue. Anyway he was out LBW shortly after for 42; it wouldn't have mattered if it had pitched outside leg and hit him on his thigh pad via his bat, the ump's finger was going up. The rest of the order fell without really troubling the scorer, except one innings of 30 which was ended thanks to Ted's bowling and Euan's gloves. Harry Wells bowled well to take three wickets, and on reflection should probably go to a gay bar on a Saturday night before a game more often. James took a wicket with spin and Ted wrapped things up, clean bowling the number 11 to seal the win for Lindum.
