Lindum Poach Win at Hartsholme

The Sunday 1st XI returned to winning ways on Sunday in an electric tie against Hartsholme at Ashby Avenue. JimKim and Tom, the Saturday 1st XI's opening partnership from yesteryear, opened the bowling, with James taking the first wicket thanks to a casual catch by Ozzy at cover. Tom claimed the big wicket by removing Hartsholme's overseas, who apparently has been attracting interest from other clubs, with Wells taking the comfortable catch at mid-off. Wellsy then came onto bowl and carried on in the same vein as Saturday, taking four wickets - he thought it should've been five, the umpire didn't. "WHATTT?? HAS HE HIT IT???" Tom finished off his excellent spell with another wicket, before Ozzy claimed a comical run-out in which the batsmen changed their minds more times than Theresa May. Main strike bowler Will Taylor then came into the attack and, like all the 'best bowlers', cleaned up the tail to leave Hartsholme 131 all out.

The dream pairing of Will T and JimKim opened the batting and, after a fluid start, both fell with the score on 28, along with number three Matt Picko who returned to his usual score of 0. However, numbers four and five, Euan and Ozzy, restored parity against Hartsholme's attack of loopy spin, loopy spin and more loopy spin before both falling in the low 30s after being unable to hit the ball more than 30 yards for the majority of their innings. Lindo came in at six to show them how to properly smack a spinner, finishing on 25 not out alongside Wellsy (4*) who finished the weekend with two red-inkers and seven wickets. All while sober. 20 points in the bag.
