The Sunday 1st XI kept up their winning run with a superb victory away at Boston on Sunday. Lindum batted first and got off to a wobbly start when Aiden and Ollie fell early on before a tidy 15 from Harry Wells. However when he fell to Boston's baseball pitcher, Lindum looked to be in a spot of bother when Will T joined Rob Cook at the crease. The two of them batted excellently, forming a partnership of 153. Cooky made an unbeaten 109 while Will finished on 60. A feature of the innings was Cooky's numerous reverse sweeps/pulls, hit harder and timed better than many of us have ever managed while batting normal handed. Will's reverse tickles were also noiiiice. The innings closed on 206-3.
Boston's chase went right down to the wire, as they were bowled out off the penultimate ball for 195. Harry Wells was the pick of the Lindum bowlers, taking 4-38 from his 10 overs - his victims included both openers and both overseas players. The things you can do while playing sober. Cooky carried his batting form into the field, taking two wickets and three catches, Kempo claimed three wickets at the end of the innings and Dan took his first wicket for two and a half years. During this time he's fought Carl Froch at Wembley in front of 80,000 fans and seen his side get knocked out in the fifth round of the FA Cup at home to non-league Lincoln. Anyway another 20 points and Lindum are sitting pretty at the top of the league.
