The Sunday 1st XI began their defence of the Premier League title in style with a comfortable victory at Top Gear studios aka Woodhall Spa. In Dan Taylor's temporary absence from the side due to being occupied in the Burnley FC dugout, Lindum were captained by this year's vice Gail Plattering, fresh from the streets of Weatherfield. Lindum batted first and after Ollie had the pleasure of getting out LBW to Woodhall's star coach for 4, Angus and Will Taylor built a good partnership which included a couple of huge and extremely satisfying sixes from the latter. Angus was caught for 43 which bought the Cheshire pro Olly Smith to the middle, who showed his class by taking a medium pace bouncer straight on the lid first ball. He soon went for 13, before excellent contributions of 20, 28 and 25 from Euan, Jake and Harry, fresh from a night in the Lincoln outback, respectively. Joe hit a few bombs at the end of the innings, making a useful 18, and Will was out at some point for 63. The score finished on a commanding 236 all out.
Woodhall managed 160 in reply, and the result was never in doubt once the two openers were removed, one of whom made a classy 59. The wickets were shared between the bowlers, with Dewy, Jake, Harry and Rob claiming two each, Kempo taking one and Angus had a run out. Welcome to Rob Noble who soon readjusted to Lincolnshire cricket having previously seemingly played on 40-yard pitches.
