Exiles Slip Closer to Danger

The toss was won and the decision was to bowl first.

Glyn and Sophie opened with very tight spells. Patience was required and the first wicket fell in the 11th over with the score on 19. Sophie bowled and the catch was taken behind by James Mundy. Next up the wicket appeared flat as more watchful batting mixed with a few shots meant a second wicket partnership of 70 from 19 overs. This was broken by Zac as he bowled the opener with the score 89. A collapse followed as Zac continued to torment Clee Town Laportes, ending up with 6-15 off eight overs (overall figures of 22.1-8-61-13 wickets from the three matches this season). Martin chipped in with two more wickets to help bowl the opposition out for 115.

The short chase started well between Nabil and James before James fell in the fifth over for the score on 18. Rishabh joined Nabil and they shared a partnership of nine before Rishabh was bowled at the end of the eighth over. Unfortunately a major collapse followed as at the end of the 12th over the score became 34-6. Aadil hung around for a little while with Ben before being the next to fall with the score on 46. Ben and Glyn shared a 10 run partnership before Ben went lbw. Glyn managed to score more runs in a partnership with Zac before falling with the score on 70. Zac was then the last to go with the score on 74. Only three batsmen; Nabil (19), Ben (11) and Glyn (19) managed double figures.

So a very disappointing end to the game having turned it around ourselves to take the (10 man) opposition from 89-1 to 115 all out. We take five points from the game and move onto a break next week. All set for a recharge and then four vital games left of the season (already?!) as we have slipped back closer to the relegation zone.
