The 3s, with seven changes from last week, were away to Alford & District. The toss was lost and we were asked to bat first.
It was a bad day that never really got going as the score of 98 all out was posted. Five batsmen got into double figures and only the returning Ben Morrison remained with a score of 24 not out. Some questionable decision making and a slight bit of bad luck contributed to many of the dismissals throughout the innings.
Unfortunately the bowling did not get much better as both Ted and Sophie threatened but failed to get the breakthrough early on. Poor fielding, including some dropped catches, did not help either. Ted improved through his spell and, in the final over, we thought the first wicket had arrived as he bowled the opener, but this ended up being a front foot ball! Thankfully a couple of balls later Ted bowled him again. Zac and Beggers also bowled but there no more joy as a nine wicket win was sealed in the 21st over.
A tough, zero point defeat and plenty of improvement to come. Next week we return to the Barracks and host Scothern who are up at the top of the table.
