"OMG a win! Get in there!!! Enough said!" - Matt Brett, upon winning the game

A senior side for the 3s this season traveled on a very damp morning to Normanby Park. A lovely setting which, apart from the strip used last week, showed absolutely no sign of rain. The track looked good, and raised doubt to the initial expected choice of 'got to bowl first'. I still would have bowled but confused at having lost the toss we were asked to field anyway!

We started with nine in the field until the delayed arrival of Glyn and Picko. Although it was debatable whether this made a difference, Normanby started well, going at five an over. Ted (2), Fish (1) and Glyn (1 of 2) dragged the batsmen back to get the score to 69-4. A partnership was formed to wrestle some initiative back and the fifth wicket didn't fall until Matt Picko joined in with the score on 90. Normanby did not progress much further with Matt taking four in total, a run out and Glyn's second restricting them to 109. A great fielding effort all round.

After a great tea it was time for the chase and we were under no illusion we would have to concentrate to chase the score. Dan Hobson and Beggers opened - polar opposites in terms of current form. We got the opening partnership we required as Dan was first to go with the score on 48. The form book was thrown out of Normanby Park as he made 44 from 40 balls. Beggers and Martin Carrick followed whilst Max added 24 from 23. Eddie Smith (14*) and Sophie Munro (13*) enjoyed an unbroken 23 partnership to take the 3s home to a six wicket win.

So the first win of the season and probably came as a surprise to the league as Normanby were second at the start of day. Lindum 3s climb out of the relegation zone for now but an important game next week as we travel to Broughton who are down in the bottom few places with us.
