The game at the Barracks went ahead following a late pitch inspection, and Barton Town won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bowl.
Nabil and Jon opened the batting and shared an opening stand of 43 in 16 overs. Jon witnessed three wickets fall to leave the score in the balance at 63-4 at the halfway stage. Newcomer to the side, Matt Gleadell (20), was next to crease and formed a partnership of 59 before falling with the score on 122. Jon continued to bat strong through the innings and fell at the end of the 44th over with a brilliant 89. The final score was 165-8 from the 45 overs.
Sophie and Glyn opened the bowling and quick wickets were in order whilst the clouds were approaching. Sophie claimed two early wickets to leave the score 20-2 off seven overs as the rain came. Play resumed after 30 minutes and through varying levels of light and drizzle a further 10 overs were possible. During this period, Glyn took a wicket to leave Barton 31-3 when the game was abandoned. The third wicket gained a bowling point which could be vital come the end of the season.
It is cup weekend next week so the 3s have a week off. When we return it is four consecutive away games starting with Alkborough on 3rd June.
