Defeat in the Cup

Lindum lost the toss and batted first and, after a very early wicket, Charlie Portlock and Nabil Fassal built a steady platform before Charlie departed with the score on 38-2. Another couple of wickets fell in consecutive deliveries to bring Matt Picko to the crease. A swift 18 (including a 4 off the hat trick ball!) in a partnership of 25 was the final highlight of the innings. Once Picko fell to leave the score 65-5 the rest of the order followed to leave the total 82 all out. Nabil top scored with a very well constructed 43.

Picko (two wickets) and Sophie Munro opened the bowling and provided the tight start required, with the score on 25-2 after 12 overs when their spells were finished. This continued in style with Zac Shelbourne's spin claiming three quick wickets (including two in two balls) to leave the visitors reeling on 39-6; Kafait Ahmad chipped in with a wicket of his own. Unfortunately the opposition number five had other ideas and scored 41 runs (adding to his four wickets) to steer his team home for the loss of just one more wicket, which was claimed by Charlie Portlock with the score on 71.

It turned out to be a great game and we look forward to meeting Clee Town for our league games later in the season. Next up we continue to be at home and welcome East Halton.
