2nd XI Match Report

The 2nd XI were the second side of the day to suffer a convincing defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Bracebridge Heath. Their 2nds visited the LCG and decided to bat first after winning the toss. The third ball of the day, bowled by Dewy, should've been an easy LBW decision as it was missing leg and off but taking middle half way up but apparently that's not grounds for dismissal any more. The batsman on the receiving end of the decision went on to score 124 (admittedly being dropped twice on the way), while the other opener made a scratchy 66. It's a good job too, as the rest of the side fell for a combined 47 as Dan Taylor whittled through the order with a superb spell of bowling to claim figures of 7-33 from 10.3 overs. Plenty in the tank sir! Dewy took two wickets while Wellsy claimed the long overdue scalp of BBH's century maker, with the high catch taken by Mundy who was particularly pleased with it. BBH posted 260 from 49.3 overs.

In response, Lindum posted 131 all out. Picko senior was first to go, caught behind for nine, before Knowlesy (also nine) was triggered LBW, despite hawk eye showing the ball would in fact have gone on to hit the square leg umpire. After an iffy start, Ollie went on to make 34 before dinking one straight back to the bowler on a plate with a knife and fork, which the bowler celebrated by screaming and zooming past him in an aeroplane motion. I remember my first wicket. Grant and Angus tried to push along but were both bowled for 12 and 18 respectively, before Dan also fell to a very dubious LBW decision. Harry and Matt Gleadell fell quickly before Mundy was bowled for 10 and Benno was last man out for 16, leaving BBH's favourite, Dewy, stranded on four. On the bright side we're away to top of the league Scunny next week! Good one to win.
