The 2nd XI suffered a humiliating defeat at Alkborough on Saturday, the side who were promoted along with ourselves from Division One last year. Lindum bowled first and didn't originally make the most of a green pitch until Dewy made the breakthrough with his first delivery, with Max taking the catch behind the stumps after Benno decided he'd rather parry it to Max rather than catch it himself at slip. Ted then bowled the other opener with a delicious in swinger and Benno claimed an LBW and Tom took a smart catch at mid off. The hosts were 90ish for 4 at drinks, before Harry took the most casual of catches at cow corner off Dewy. Alkborough forged a couple of partnerships at the end of the innings to frustrate Lindum, scoring 30-40 more than originally thought. Benno and Dewy took another wicket each while Zac, on his Ramblers debut, bowled excellently, taking a wicket in the process thanks to a sharp catch by Dewy at slip. Tom Lea got a run out as the hosts finished on 183 all out.
Swinging conditions and poor shot selection meant the Lindum reply was somewhat embarrassing, as we were bowled out for just 52. Harry Wells made the only meaningful contribution of 17. Must be the new bat grip.
