Please take a moment to read and consider this message as we commence competitive fixtures this weekend.
A year ago, when COVID first arrived, we did not really understand what we were dealing with. A year on, we have a much better understanding of how to keep ourselves and each other safe. Simple measures of hand washing, sanitising, keeping a 2m distance and wearing a mask in indoor areas to state the most common ones.
We have all missed 'normal' life and crave a return to such. Cricket is part of that, but it does not 'just happen'; a very many people have put in a huge amount of effort, much of which is voluntary, to provide our members and cricketers across the country the opportunity to play cricket again. It is a reminder that it is a privilege to be able to play cricket, and one that should not be taken for granted.
Therefore as we commence the 2021 season, I ask you to show respect.
The 2021 season will be very different to 2020. When we returned to cricket in 2020 after the first lockdown, our understanding of the virus was not as thorough as it is now, the track and trace system was not operating as it is now, and there were no sanctions in place for failure to comply. The consequence of this will be greater emphasis placed on both Clubs and individuals to follow the guidance and not push the boundaries. Breaches of the guidance and standards in 2021 could result in any of the following sanctions:
You will therefore appreciate that in 2021, the actions of one individual could have devastating consequences for many, and indeed for the whole Club. Last season Lindum CC were praised highly by officials and other Clubs from around the County for the way we approached the 'return to cricket'. Please let's do the same this year.
With that in mind, we attach two documents from the ECB regarding the 'Return to Cricket', and one from the Lindum Sports Association regarding the reopening of the bar facilities. We ask you to read them carefully, understand them, and abide by them. In particular, please note we are currently on Step 2 of the ECB road map. We request that you fully brief yourself with regards to the current guidelines as to when you can attend the ground.

It just leaves me to thank you all in advance for your cooperation and the group effort that has been required and will be required to make this all possible. Lindum Cricket Club is for you, and because of you.
Wishing you all a safe, happy and successful season.
